"MICRO-ZINE DUNGEON 2023 complete original series, first edition issues #1 - #52 plus appendices #1 & #2, hand-written and signed by the author, containing the first ever appearances of the Grim Estate of Pelatious IV and the Enclave of Lesser Evils."
- now that would be a pretty cool thing to have on your shelf!

Multiple printable versions:

  • 52 x colour cover journals with cyan dot grid interiors, and 2 appendices: 1 x grey cover with cyan interior calendars; and 1 x black cover with blank index tables.
  • Black & White: 1 x B&W dot grid journal; 1 x B&W calendar journal; and 1x B&W blank index tables journal
  • Non-repro Cyan: for easy scan & removal of dot grid template, includes 1 x cyan dot grid journal; 1 x cyan calendar journal; and 1 x  cyan blank index tables journal.

What is this journal?

- 432 pages encompassing 54 8-page A6 booklets, each with a different colour cover in a subdued CMY gradient that cycles into darker shades for the final months.

- Each booklet is printed one-sided on one A4 page - just cut once & fold to A6 size to make each 8-page booklet: that's 54 pieces of paper, representing 52 weeks and 2 appendices. Instructions here (by Ashley Topacio:

- Each booklet features a non-repro cyan dot-grid (even on the cover) with a tidy white border on all sides and a logo on the cover that I pulled from the Dungeon 23 Asset Pack by Lone Archivist and recoloured for each individual booklet.

- The 53rd booklet contains a calendar to mark progress. The 54th booklet is included for the addition of index tables and other appendices.

Why would I want to use this journal?

- If you want to keep up a writing or design exercise I think you should remove as many barriers as possible: with this journal you are only confronted with a tiny A6 page to add to every day, and every week you'll get to look back and mark your progress with a completed booklet and much less of the pressure of trying to fill a diary or journal. You can always stop at the end of each week without any pressure to continue (so you'll end up more likely to continue and only if you're still having fun) and you'll also get a fresh start every time you finish a booklet and start a new week.

- Quickly scan and remove the dot grid backgrounds (and logo on the cover if you use the fully cyan version so you can replace it with your own chapter/week/dungeon title) to immediately turn them into shareable print-and-fold booklets ready to be downloaded - you can easily upload it at the end of every week!

- There is nothing but a grid of dots on all of your 365 page-a-day entries so it's free to use however best suits you (be it an illustration or passage of text or room description or encounter table or hexmap or all of the above). As far as I'm concerned the difference between playing an rpg and making one is pretty negligibile - personally I've got some spooky washi tape so I'm just going to have a good time and see how I go. Maybe you don't want to do one 52-week mega-dungeon? Why not 52 week-long dungeons instead?

- If you don't want 54 loose booklets at the end of your Dungeon Year you can easily bind or staple your journals into months or even seasons. I'm going to try combining all 432 pages into one booklet so further down the line I'll be uploading a cover combining the entire range of colours into one graphic (like a much taller version of the graphic at the top of this page) with instructions to cut it out and sew it into a tidy collection as an additional download.
